Vietnam will host a Ministerial Roundtable on Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the opening event of Vietnam International Digital Week 2025, underscoring the country’s ambition to position itself as a proactive player in shaping global AI governance and innovation.
According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, the roundtable is scheduled for October 27 in Ninh Binh Province, immediately following the official inauguration of Digital Week. The event will bring together representatives from more than 30 countries, international organizations, and technology enterprises, marking one of the largest multilateral discussions on AI ever organized in Vietnam.
The high-level meeting will center on how governments can balance rapid AI innovation with ethical, legal, and social safeguards. Ministers and senior officials are expected to share their experiences in building national AI strategies, establishing regulatory frameworks, and developing risk-management mechanisms to address issues such as bias, misinformation, and data privacy.
The roundtable aims to identify flexible governance models that encourage technological progress while ensuring transparency, accountability, and public trust. By gathering diverse perspectives from both developed and emerging economies, Vietnam seeks to foster dialogue that contributes to shaping a more inclusive and responsible global AI ecosystem.
Confirmed participants include:
Mr. Américo Muchanga, Minister of Communications and Digital Transformation of Mozambique
Mr. Santisouk Simmalavong, Deputy Minister of Information and Technology of Laos
Mr. Chun Vat, Secretary of State, Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia
Ms. Inarukundo Francine, Permanent Deputy Minister of Finance of Burundi
In addition, senior officials and experts from Japan, South Korea, and other nations will join the discussions, along with representatives from global technology companies and innovation agencies.
Hosting the Ministerial Roundtable reflects Vietnam’s determination to play a constructive and leading role in the international AI dialogue. In recent years, the Vietnamese government has accelerated its digital transformation agenda, promoting AI adoption across sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and public administration.
Vietnam has also supported the development of a domestic AI ecosystem, encouraging research institutions, startups, and major tech firms to collaborate on AI-driven solutions that align with national development goals.
Through the upcoming roundtable, Vietnam hopes to strengthen regional cooperation, enhance policy coordination, and promote ethical and human-centered AI development. The discussions are expected to lay the groundwork for future joint initiatives, research collaborations, and public-private partnerships in the field of artificial intelligence.
As AI continues to reshape economies and societies worldwide, Vietnam’s initiative to convene ministerial-level leaders highlights both the urgency and the opportunity of building a shared global approach - one that leverages technology for inclusive growth while addressing the challenges of the digital age.
